7 Ways To Add A Little Exercise To Your Day

via
Hello lovelies!  As
you all know I link up with Katie Did What every Thursday for a little health
and fitness session, which has helped me focus on my healthy lifestyle even moreso than before (Thanks Katie!).  Last week’s post
(here) was all about mental health and how keeping a positive and happy attitude/aura
is also something that can keep you healthy.
Today I wanted to talk a little bit about the little things that can
keep you active during the day.  They are
some of the simplest things you can do that will keep you moving, and if you
work a “9-5” it will keep you awake.
1.  Park far away.

If you are injured this obviously doesn’t pertain to you,
but for the rest of us, park far away.  I
started doing this mainly because I saw someone hit my car with their door
(this is why we can’t have nice things) and so I decided I would park farther
away than usual.  Then I started thinking
about how many more steps I’m adding to my day, meaning more movement for
me.  I sit at my cubicle from 8:30-5:30
every day so any extra movement is a great thing for me.
2.  Take the stairs.

I rarely ever take the elevator unless the person I’m with
does.  I work on the second floor of my
building and I always take the stairs whether I’m going downstairs or
upstairs.  I think it’s also because I
really don’t like taking the elevator, am I the only one who’s equilibrium gets
thrown off?
3.  Walk if the distance is short.

The other day I went to the city and my friend and I walked
8 miles all day instead of taking a cab everywhere.  The upside to this is not only are you
working out (for some reason my WHOLE body was sore the next day) but you are
saving money on cab fare and public transportation, pretty much it’s a win win situation.  If you can walk even if it’s just a little
extra distance, do it.  You can even walk
during your lunch break if you have the capability of doing so, meaning if you
have an area around your building, and the weather is decent.
4.  If you can, play with your kids instead of parking them in
front of the TV or computer.  They could
use the exercise too.

I don’t have kids, nor will I have them for a while so I’m
not sure what the protocol is nowadays or how moms even have time because in today’s
world a lot of moms are working but I know when I was younger when I was home
with my mom I rarely ever watched TV unless it was a movie when there was free
time and even then I watched the same movie over and over again, ok way to go
off topic.  ANYWAY, I remember my mom
always going outside with me, whether it be for a walk to get some fresh air
for both of us or just going in the backyard.
I know everyone’s situation is different, but if you can find time, go
play with your kids outside.  Teach them how
to play soccer (I will when I’m a mommy) or something.
5.  Drink lots of water.

It flushes out your system which causes you to have to get
up and move to go to the bathroom.
6.  Brings me to this one, go to the bathroom on a different
floor.

If you work in a building with multiple floors (like mine)
take the extra walk to go to a different bathroom on a different floor.  You never know you might make a new friend
walking to a different department, plus it might keep you sane because you’re
taking a field trip OUT of your department.
7.  And this brings me to my final one and favorite; office
workouts.

Bonus: Grocery bag lifting!

Ok, so I have a bonus one that is just showing my pure
laziness of NOT wanting to go out to the car multiple times.  I take as many groceries/bags as I possibly
can.  Hey at least it’s a work out for my
arms!
