Two Great Causes

If you read my 5 for Friday post a few weeks ago I talked
about a cause that I donated too.  At the
end of this post I’ll talk about it again because I really want to get the word
out there, but I wanted to start off with the story of a little boy who’s name
is Seth.  You may or may not have seen my
post on my Instagram last week regarding why today is so important!  You can follow his (well his parents are
writing it) blog here.  Seth has SCID
which stands for Severe Combined Immune Deficiency.  You can read the post about the
#wearyellowforseth campaign here.  He
also asked everyone personally through a YouTube video here.  He is such an adorable little boy and you
really need to watch that video.  It
brought tears to my eyes.
So what is this campaign, and why is there so much yellow in
the above pictures?  If you watch that
YouTube video you’ll see that Seth was saying how on March 27th (today)
if you’d like, you can wear yellow to support him and spread awareness about
his SCID.  Make sure that if you upload
onto Instagram, Twitter, or Facebook that you add the hashtag
#wearyellowforseth  he also stated in the
video that his mom is going to be printing out the pictures for his room so
that he can see how many people are supporting him.  I think it’s a great cause and all you have
to do is wear yellow.  So, Seth if your
mom is somehow reading this to you, I hope you like yellow cars little
guy!  This blogger is supporting you 110%
keep on fighting!  To Seth’s parents, I
can’t even imagine being in your shoes.
What you have had to go through and reading Seth’s story is just unimaginable.  It takes special people to get through
something like this and still keep a positive outlook.  Thank you for sharing your son with the
world, he is absolutely adorable and I wish him the best and healthiest life
possible!

Now, onto my next cause that I wanted to touch base on and
give everyone an update.  If you read my
post here a few weeks ago about getting Jan home you already know what this is about but keep reading for the update.  There’s this man named Jan who is paralyzed
from the neck down.  He wasn’t always
like this.  He has no recollection of how
this happened but doctors are saying that his injuries look like the type of
injuries you would get if you were hit by a car.  Jan is a Polish immigrant (which is why this
hits close to home) who came to America and three years after his wife had
passed away.  Instead of going back to
Poland he decided to stay and work in America.
His English is not very good so he needs a translator as his source of
communication between him and the doctors.
A medical resident of the hospital started a fundraiser for Jan
here.  He wants to bring Jan back home to
Poland so he could be with his family (he is the only one here in
America).  All together they need to
raise $300,000, $100,000 of that is to bring him to Poland and the other
$200,000 is to make sure he has the proper care to live.  Since I mentioned this story back in February
they have raised so much more money.  I’ve
been keeping up with the fundraiser just because I donated and would love to
see him get brought back to Poland where he will be much happier and won’t be
lonely since he doesn’t have anyone here.
When I first donated they only had I believe a little over $4,000 but
now they have over $30,000!  Seeing that
makes me so happy!
I hope anyone reading this can join in on these causes and
help spread awareness for Seth and help Jan go back to Poland to be with his
family!

I applaud parents that walk the walk with their children. They live that challenge on a daily basis, bless them all. Coincidentally my post today is a yellow dress, 3 days too late but I'm wondering if I should still hashtag on iG? Better late than never. I will. Thanks for spreading the word Monica. You are amazing! http://fashionablyidu.blogspot.com/
