Today’s Trend Spin is statement pieces. I am definitely ALL about statement
pieces! I feel as though they give a
little extra somethin’ to your outfit.
Today I chose to take a dress that I’ve worn once before on the blog (a year ago) and style it a little differently.
Since the dress is extremely busy in itself already I wanted to put on
some bold pieces without taking away from the beauty of this dress. I decided to go with a green and gold
theme. The green is still bold but since
this has a floral pattern with lots of bright colors it won’t be completely
overpowering. I belt outfits I want to
say at least 75% of the time. I’m bottom
heavy with a smaller waist so it looks more flattering when I take a piece and
put a belt on. This is also why peplum
just doesn’t work for me. I love the
style and have tried many different peplum pieces and all have been
disappointing.

Jewelry and your clutch.
These are just as equally important as what shoes you are going to
wear. If you take a look at this post I’m
actually giving away the necklace (you have until this Friday!) in this picture for my Blogiversary that
passed last week. I chose this piece
because even though it’s a statement, it gives just the right amount of glam
that it doesn’t look like I’m trying too hard. The clutch may be a very neutral tone, BUT don’t let it fool you! It’s HUGE! How can you not make a statement with a big clutch?

Moving on to the shoes.
These particular ones were given to me on my birthday from my wonderful
parents. They are my first pair of Gucci
shoes and I love them. They are classic
yet trendy with the patent leather. They
have a round toe so you know they will be in style for a while. I feel like they are the modern twist on a
Mary Jane meets Pump. I decided to wear
these to tone down the rest of the outfit and offer a little bit of
contrast. I’m a huge fan of light
colored clothing with dark accessories.
I’m not too sure as to why, but lately I’ve been obsessed with it.

Oh, and before I forget, if you want to see how I styled
this last year just look below. I didn’t
belt it (which I should have, I think today’s version is way better) and I wore
a gray sandal with a huge bag. Which by
the way I love love love that bag! Oh,
and my hair was red and long. I’m kind
of missing the color and length, but I needed a change, and I need to get this
whole blonde and short hair thing out of my system before I can stick with one
style. I would love to have pink, but
unfortunately when you work in the corporate world, they aren’t as lenient with
that haha.

Cute! I like it both belted and not! One seems a little more casual and one seems a little bit more dressed up!

I have to agree, the dress itself is beautiful, but when you add the belt, it makes it all come together! Love it!
