I have this small obsession with anything nautical. I don’t really know where this obsession
started or why I even like nautical things, but I do. What better way to show off this obsession
than by taking pictures by the water haha.
I really do love this dress though.
It can be dressed up and down.
Can you tell I love versatile pieces?
I think I say this in every other post because in my closet versatility
is most important, after making sure something is the perfect fit. This dress is also high low so it’s the
perfect “shirt dress” even though it’s a silk texture. Oh speaking of, it’s 100% silk for only $79

There’s a story about this particular outfit photo. In case you couldn’t tell from my photos, I
live in the middle of nowhere so it’s extremely hard for me to find great
backgrounds to take pictures at. It’s
extremely hard to not get used to one background as well. I’ve been trying really hard but with how
hectic life has been it’s hard to drive around looking for spots. I used to take pictures of my outfits
everyday in the morning, but now that I don’t take pictures with my cell phone
anymore I create outfits to take pictures of on the weekends. Some of these (actually most of these)
outfits I wear during the week, and others are potential outfits to wear later in
the month. I love posting outfit photos
because it’s also like a journal for me where I can put my outfits and I can
come back to them and either wear that outfit or say no, what was I
thinking? Anyway, way to get off
topic. It’s hard to find spots so I make
due with whatever I can. I still
sometimes get nervous shooting outfit photos in front of crowds of people. I try to think in my head “just pretend you’re
a model” but sometimes it just doesn’t work.

Well…
This couple was walking past the boyfriend while he’s taking
the photos and they said jokingly oh can we take a picture with her?? My boyfriend (who is wise ass number 1 in
this world) seriously said back to them, yes get in the picture I’ll get a
picture with all three of you! Needless
to say I took a picture with two complete strangers who called me beautiful and
I’m sure they had no idea that I wasn’t a model haha! I’m going to have to say it was the dress
that got their attention. I mean, how
can you miss stripes right? LOL!

Ok, so since Monday was my 4 year blogiversary, each day
this week I’m going to talk about a big moment here on the blog from the past 4
years.
this week I’m going to talk about a big moment here on the blog from the past 4
years.
Buying my domain
This was the moment I knew this was for real. Now, the reason why I listed this after
yesterday’s big moment is because I actually didn’t come up with a name and
domain I wanted to stick with. My blog
is formerly known as Moda by Monika. Now
it’s Jersey Girl, Texan Heart. The moment
I came up with the name, I knew I had to check and see if the domain was taken
yet, because in my mind, if the domain was taken then that was it I had to come
up with a new name. It was back in May
of 2014 that I changed my blog name. I
was so incredibly excited about it. I
wasn’t sure if people would like it or not, but it worked for me.

Loving the stripes on you !!! (amazing backround btw!!! ) Finding a great backround can be really hard, Kansas poses the same struggle! Old barns make for really neat bakcdrops if you can find one!

Hah that's such an awesome story. You look fab and they totally agreed! Haha! I set up my pictures with a tripod and I get so nervous around people. I usually just pack everything up if a lot of people come around because I feel so weird taking pictures of myself with a tripod and I am sure they think I'm either crazy or totally self absorbed….
