Alright, there is SO much going on in today’s blog
post!  First, I want to talk about the
history behind the Caboose in the background of today’s pictures, along with
talking about what you should know about the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale
starting tomorrow, and of course the weekly linkup!  Let’s dive right in!

Shohola Railroad

If you read the information in the one picture it talked
about a Civil War Prison Train Wreck.
This happened on July 15th, 1864 where a railroad train was
carrying 833 Confederate prisoners and 128 Union guards to a prison camp in
Elmira, NY.  It ended up colliding with a
coal train between Shohola and Lackawaxen.
For those of you who follow me and see me talk about upstate NY for
weekend getaways, I pass through Shohola every time and see this Caboose.  Anyway, about 48 prisoners and 17 guards were
killed.  Survivors, both injured and
uninjured were brought to Shohola and the residents of the village helped care
for them.  Now, the Caboose in the
picture was originally built in 1949 and today serves as a railroad museum and
tourist center.  Yes, you can go inside
and it’s a museum!  As modern technology
began to make the need for a caboose obsolete, many railways decided to no
longer attach the caboose to the end of the train.  On March 19th, 1991 the caboose
pictured above was placed in Shohola after a long life on the Reading, Penn
Central and Conrail lines.  The caboose
now holds memorabilia of the railroad and the area, which is why they gave the
information about what happened on July 15th in 1864.  Admission is free so if you’re ever in the
area make sure to stop in!  They are only
open during the months of June, July, and August on Saturdays and Sundays from
11am-2pm.  The gentleman that I spoke to
when we took these pictures was extremely nice!

Nordstrom Anniversary Sale

I’m sure you’ve heard A BUNCH of bloggers talking about the
Nordstrom Anniversary Sale.  I haven’t
talked about it yet on the blog, however I really don’t know why because I
worked at Nordstrom a few years ago during the Anniversary Sale haha.  Let me tell you, it’s a MAD house so make
sure to shop till you drop!  So, let’s
get into some information you need to know!

When?

The sale starts July 21st and ends August 6th.

What’s this talk about Early Access?

If you apply for a Nordstrom Credit Card here, you can have
early access (click here for info) to start shopping tomorrow July 13th!  If you don’t have early access you will have
to wait.

Why do I keep hearing about this?

Well, there are a lot of brand new styles at extremely
discounted prices and it’s only for the dates I provided above.

Can I see any items ahead of time?

Yes, you can!  You can
either go to Nordstrom and pick up the catalog OR you can just click here, then click on the catalog and
take a look at what’s there.

Something to remember

Ok, now remember that you can’t shop for any of the pieces
from the catalog online until tomorrow for Early Access and July 21st
for regular access.  Just click here when
you are ready to shop!

Let’s move on to the link up now, shall we?
