The Perfect Linen Dress

Dress:  Aventura // Belt:  Old Navy (sold out, similar here) // Boots:  Old Navy (sold out, similar here and here) // Bag:  Amazon

Y’all, I can’t with this weather we have been having in NJ.  It was so nice over the weekend and then yesterday it snowed in the morning and by the afternoon it was already melting!  I had the absolute worst migraine because of this.  Whenever the weather drastically changes I get the worst migraines.  Anyway, I wanted to talk about my dress in today’s post.  If you read this post back in January you would have read all about the company Aventura.  Here’s an excerpt from that post:

Aventura is family owned and operated based in Sierra Nevadas.  They began doing research in 2001 on using organic and sustainable fibers to use in the making of their clothing.  With having organically farmed cotton, they are able to not use chemical pesticides, synthetic fertilizers and genetic engineering.Today over 75% of their styles use lower impact or sustainable materials.  They are a partner of Uncommon Threads which is an organization that is providing clothing for domestic violence survivors.  Aventura also donates clothing to women in need, helping them feel empowered and return to work feeling confident and professional.

I feel like a company that partners with great organizations is always a plus in my book.  Plus, they are partnering with a company like Uncommon Threads which is helping women basically get back on their feet.  I love learning about brands that are working towards the greater good. Their clothing quality in general is really amazing.

With all of that being said, you can obviously see why I would recommend the brand as a whole.  Last week I also uploaded this post which had a top that was from Aventura, but in that post I wanted to focus more in Epilepsy Awareness Day so I saved today’s post to talk about the company again.  I must say this dress was so beautifully made.  This dress was a bit big on me so I decided I would just belt it because I didn’t want something that was skin tight either.  They have different colors of this dress, but this one was the one I loved the most.

I also wanted to make an announcement.  I landed a new job!  After 5+ years at the current company I’m at (I currently work full time outside of this blog) I was hired at another company.  I wanted to say thank you to everyone who sent me good vibes last week on Instagram with my extremely vague post.  I didn’t announce that I was going on an interview because I didn’t want to jinx myself.  I got a call back the very next day with an offer and start date.  I must say, it was an offer I couldn’t refuse and as much as I love the people I work with now, I had to take this opportunity.  I wasn’t challenging myself at my current job and I wasn’t advancing because of the culture of the company.  I was recognized as a senior, but there was no room for growth until I hit my 10 year mark and I just couldn’t see myself doing the same thing for another little less than 5 years.  On the other hand, I’m not a fan of change and I’m nervous about starting over at my new job, but I know I need something new.  I need something to keep my brain going, instead of basically doing everything by muscle memory.

I took the leap.  The universe basically put this opportunity in my lap and I would have been dumb not to take it.  It’s closer to home and even if I work overtime, I would still get home the same time I would from my current job.  I don’t know what this means for the blog.  I know I will still continue blogging, but maybe in the beginning of my new job it won’t be as often as usual and once I get a hang of my new job my blog will go back to normal.  Or my blog might stay right on track.  I honestly won’t know until I start this new job.  We will see what happens!

CONGRATS on the new job! What an accomplishment! And we are finally getting warm weather where I live but it has been such a long time coming with cold spell after cold spell. Now I can wear linen and dresses! The detailing on this dress is just enough that it’s not boring and you can accessorize it with other fun stuff like your leopard print belt. I hope you get to wear it more soon!

Thank you so much! I’m hoping it’ll get warmer here, it’s been too long of a winter.

Thanks girl! I’m so excited about it, but also a little nervous, but that’s normal for me with any change. Also, Aventura really is a great company!
