^That’s my baby brother! He will always be my baby brother, no matter how old he gets.
About a month ago, my brother had come home for the holidays. I consider my brother a little bit of a nomad. He doesn’t stay in one place for longer than 1-2 years and he loves exploring new places. His Instagram is filled with photos from different cities. He obviously grew up in NJ, studied at Boston University, then went on to work in LA, NYC, and now Chicago. He’s taken random trips to TX, Colorado, even Canada. He is an extremely outspoken person, and I really think he should’ve been a lawyer. He missed his calling because he would’ve made a great one.
Since he’s very random, he called me one morning while he was home and asked me if I wanted to take a trip with him to High Point, NJ. I wasn’t doing anything besides sitting around, so I figured why not? I haven’t been to High Point in quite some time, and that place has some funny memories for me. When we first moved up to this area in NJ, my parents took us to High Point since we weren’t that far away and we climbed all the way to the top of the monument. We also took a picture by the monument and since it was so high up, it was windy. Like Chicago windy haha. We have this picture that my dad took of my mom with us kids, and all of our hair is sticking straight up because of the wind. We talk about that picture all the time because it was so funny.
So, on one cold winter day (not the coldest though, it was in the negatives last week) my brother and I took a trip to High Point in his beat up Volvo that he’s had since High School. We jammed out to old school music, and even sang a song together that reminds us of our grandpa, who’s watching over us. My brother shares his birthday with our grandpa, so they have an extra special bond. I remember when my brother was born, my grandpa was so happy, it was the best birthday present he could’ve ever received.
A few days after my brother and I celebrated NYE together. We went to Wawa (one just opened up near us, and the subs are sooooo good. Most Wawa’s are down the shore here in NJ), bought some sandwiches, then went back and watched the ball drop. The next day my brother was on his way back to Chicago. And just like that, my brother was gone again.
I don’t know when I will see him again, but I’m sure it will be an adventure just like all the other times he came home, or I visited him in Boston.

That was such a cool story about your brother. What does he do since he is not a lawyer?! Oh and I feel you about extremely cold weather and super windy temps like in Chicago. It will feel about -25 with the windchill here tomorrow. School is once again canceled for the next two days. Love your edgy layering here too, Monica. Great boots!
This post would be perfect to link up with my new Monthly “Skirting the Rules” linkup the last Tuesday of each month (link below). Thanks and have a great week! Ada. =)

He works in the business world which he actually does enjoy. He definitely would’ve made a great lawyer though haha!
