Why I have so many opinions & a Linkup

Dress:  Rebellia

Hello friends!  I was never known to have strong opinions that I spoke about growing up.  Ever since I started getting involved with blogging and now my Youtube channel, I never spoke so strongly about my opinions.  Growing up, I was always the quiet, weird kid.  Being anti social and an introvert has been my attitude for most of my life.  There was a point in time during my college years where I broke out my shell, and that’s when I realized I have a voice.  It wasn’t until I started my blog that it hit me, I have a voice, and I need to use it.  For a long time my family and I didn’t want to put my epilepsy story out into the world.  I’ve been judged by many people for having epilepsy, and a lot of people are afraid of epileptics.  The reasoning behind that, is they don’t understand.  I’ve had to inform anyone who comes in contact with me, what to do if I have a seizure.  Can you imagine if I didn’t tell them and god forbid I had a seizure?  That would have been a major problem and terrifying for the person.  The reason I wanted to tell that story is because I know so many people are out there struggling with some kind of medical issue.  They see me and my photos and may think “this girl doesn’t have issues” but they don’t see what goes on behind the photos.  My struggles that I’ve had to endure weren’t shown until I finally decided to talk about it.

That was a stepping stone for my blog.  Talking about my story was so scary, but I felt good doing it.  You may be asking, why the hell is she talking about this, this has nothing to do with opinions.  However, it does.  The response I got for my first epilepsy post made me realize I have this voice and I need to use it.  In 2018 I decided to start speaking my mind a little bit more.  I decided that just sharing my outfit photos wasn’t appealing or fun anymore.  That’s when my blog took a turn in a different direction.  I love fashion and dressing up, but I’m so much more than that.

Like I said earlier, I was always the quiet weird kid.  The fact that I’m behind a computer screen helps a little bit but I also have a really supportive community and bond with all of y’all.  Some of you have disagreed with me in the past, but still respected my opinion and I LOVE THAT.  We should all be willing to agree to disagree.  I love hearing other’s opinions as well, because there have been times where my opinion shifted a bit because of furthering the discussion.  When I started my channel, I knew that I was going to get people who disagreed with me because that is a much larger platform than this little itty bitty blog of mine.  However, I had to stand up for what I believe in.  I never stood up for myself before when I was younger.  Being bullied was normal for me, and not once did I think about sticking up for myself.  Having many different opinions from others growing up was also a struggle.  That is why I’m so open and firm with my beliefs today.  Never do I want anyone to feel like my opinion is factual and “it’s my way or the highway” but I do want my voice to be heard since it wasn’t heard before.

Anyway, now that I had a little rant, let’s move on to the weekly linkup.

That’s what of the many reasons I like you. Not only do you share your opinion but you accept the opinions of others. What are we coming to when we cannot have intelligent, respectful conversations. That’s how we learn! Anyway, the dress is absolutely gorgeous. Hope you’re enjoying Florida life!

I always felt the same way.. until I reached adulthood and realized I didn’t need to keep quiet so others would like me or not know what I really thought. Sure it might have cost me a few friends but I feel so much better being true to myself and I find the more I learn to speak my thoughts the easier it gets. Blogging helps so much as it’s not a face to face confrontation; which I’m still working on.

That is why I enjoy following you on your blog… I don’t always agree with what you say but I am able to respect what you say as your opinion. I have definitely come out of my shell as I got older!
