Top: Old Navy (old) // Biker Shorts: Walmart // Shoes: Converse
A lot of people were planning on going to a lot of festivals this year, and unfortunately that won’t be happening because of COVID. While pretending like you’re going to one isn’t the same as actually going to one, this month’s Your Own Twist Linkup theme is festival outfits. My look would be perfect for summer because it’s all thin fabric and super breezy. In the past I only went to punk rock/emo/heavy metal festivals, so I would wear something different to those. However, I imagine this would be great for a festival that’s not as intense as the concerts/festivals I went to when I was younger. Although, I’d still rock the converse because that’s my signature sneaker. I’m actually wearing converse to my wedding, and will be bedazzling them soon!
Really funny story about these biker shorts though. I got them from Walmart, but I came across some capris leggings which reminded me of my childhood, but I had my heart set on biker shorts. As I’m looking through everything, this older woman (who was so adorable) started telling me how she loves them because it’s so easy for her to wear them in the summertime since it’s so hot and she’s able to be comfortable. I usually don’t like when people here talk to me randomly, for example the woman who was near me while I was picking out chicken and she somehow told me about her family and the recipe she was going to use for her chicken to feed her family. However, this older woman was a great exception. She was so sweet. I think it’s one of those, respect your elders, kind of things. Everyone else can bugger off. People down south don’t know that I come from a place where “hey, how are you” is just being polite and saying hi, but it doesn’t mean to tell people how you’re actually doing. We don’t like people knowing our business.
I texted my mom a picture of this outfit when I wore it and said that I felt like I belonged in the 80’s haha. Since losing 10lbs, I’ve been a little more confident in what I wear, so wearing biker shorts with a bandeau top, tied with a dress shirt was a big risk for me. I know, I know, this isn’t a scandalous outfit, and nowhere near the bodycon dresses I wore for girls night in my 20’s, but it’s a lot for me.
Enough rambling, let’s get to the linkup!
