YOUR OWN TWIST LINKUP
It’s time for the monthly Your Own Twist Linkup with my friend Shelbee on the Edge. This month’s theme is spunky old broads. I decided to take a quick picture of myself at the roller rink this past weekend. I was actually wearing this under yesterday’s post. However, I wanted to use it for today’s theme as well because I haven’t been to a roller rink in over a decade. Back in the day (I sound so old saying that haha), I used to go to the roller rink every Saturday. I went to a roller rink that was in a different town where most of the people my age were from different schools. As I’ve said in the past, I was a bit of an outcast and never really felt like I fit in, so I liked going places where no one knew me. It was an escape. Going to the roller rink with my husband and daughter was such a full circle moment. I may not fully fit in still (there is a post I want to write about having a bit of an identity crisis as a Polish American), but I felt so good being there with my little family. Although, I will say, afterwards I was a bit sore, and my husband started doing tricks and then fell. He hasn’t done them since high school which is a very long time ago. We still rollerbladed though!

OBSESSED WITH A SONG
Have you ever been so obsessed with a song that you play it on repeat for hours? The kind of song that just has so much emotion and you can feel every single word of the song? Well, I’ve been a bit more active on Tiktok lately to drive more traffic to my Youtube channel (my blog is my safe space from trolls), and I was scrolling the one night. I came across this song called Just Pretend by Bad Omens. The lyrics aren’t 100% relatable to current me, however they are so relatable to younger Monica who had a lot of teen angst and went through some shit. I’m also an elder emo as they call us on tiktok. It’s basically just an older millennial that was emo, especially back in the early 2000s. The thing is, I listen to a lot of older emo music from back then because I can’t usually find music that gives me the same emotions as back then, but this Just Pretend song definitely hits me in the feels as they say.
