Back to School Edition // Healthy Habits

For Today’s (and the final) Back to School Edition I will be talking about staying active and healthy while attending school and linking up with Katie Did What.  We all know how small dorm rooms can be so if you want to
work out in the comfort of your new home rather than going to the gym you have
to make due somehow.  Back to school
means being able to buy new things for the year.  Well, even though it’s not a pair of heels or
a cute dress I don’t know about everyone else but I do get excited about new
workout gear.  I put a few cute garments
that I would definitely purchase but a few things that you can use for at home
workouts.  You never know, your new
roomie may also want to work out with you so you two can make a designated work
out space in your room.

Remember to do things like work out during your favorite
show.  Instead of sitting there munching
on popcorn (even though I know how awesome that can be) do stomach crunches or
even planks.  If you don’t want to run
outside find a stairwell that doesn’t have too much traffic and run up and down
that.

Ah yes, the hardest part of going away to school is the
food.  The lovely Freshman 15.  I’m sure you’ve heard of it.  Trust me, it does happen to A LOT of
people.  You’re staying up most of the
night studying and once you get hungry the first thing you want to eat is
something that will temporarily help your stress like fries, ice cream, cheese
cakes, that sort of thing.  It will
actually make you feel worse and will decrease your energy levels.  Instead eat some type of snack instead or if
you’re really hungry make yourself a salad.
Always make sure to stay hydrated too!
Drink lots of water!
One last thing about being healthy while going away to
school, this sounds really easy but it’s a lot harder than you think;
SLEEP!  Sleep regularly or at least try
your hardest to.  It will definitely pay
off in the end.

It's not nearly as common for students in Australia to live on campus but weight gain is still common in the university years- more from too many nights out drinking though 🙂

It's not necessarily the drinking though. I gained weight and I didn't drink, I just ate too much from stress haha.

I definitely gained a few pounds during my junior and senior years of school… Yikes! I had to start moving more. I love the idea of working out during your favorite shows!

I stressed out a lot so I either ate a lot until I felt 10 lbs heavier or I wouldn't eat, so either way was unhealthy. The freshman 15 does exist whether it be freshman year or later years. Leslie you look great!
