Casual Chic and my Summer Go To Pieces along with a Linkup

We all have that summer uniform.  You know, your go to pieces that you swear by
in the summer time.  Since I think it’s
officially summer here in NJ, it’s finally warmed up enough and feels like it,
I wanted to share one of my go to outfits for summer, along with some of my go to pieces.  Don’t get me wrong I love denim shorts
and a tank look for those super casual just hanging out at home or on the patio
type days, but if I’m going out I like to dress up a little bit and I wanted to
show that it’s definitely doable even in the summer time!  I’m going to list a few of my go to pieces
that I always have around for summer.
Flowy Top
Just like the top listed above, it’s a nice twist to your
simple tank and it’s light weight.  It
adds a little flair and femininity to your outfit.  There are so many different types of flowy
tops nowadays too.  You can get a one
shoulder, off the shoulder, cold shoulder, or sleeveless like the one pictured.
Simple Tank
Ok, so even though the above top (flowy top) is a nice
alternative, sometimes it’s just too darn hot and you want to wear just a
simple tank.  You can definitely dress up
a simple tank.  I do it all the
time!  All you have to add is a fun
bottom so whether or not it’s a printed/textured skirt or pair of shorts and it
instantly dresses up the outfit.  You can
also add statement jewelry, which brings me to my next must have.
Statement Jewelry
I know a lot of girls who have statement jewelry they wear
all year round, or they have particular pieces they wear for specific
seasons.  I usually just wear the same
things all year around except for maybe two necklaces because they are
definitely more spring and summer oriented so it sometimes looks awkward in the
winter depending on what I’m wearing that day.
Crochet Shorts (pictured above)/Or any Printed/Textured
shorts
If you saw the Victoria Beckham for Target collection that’s
what I mean by print/textured shorts. 
Basically anything that’s crochet, lace, jacquard, etc.  I feel as though as long as they’re not denim
they won’t be considered casual.  I also
usually go for longer shorts because I get uncomfortable in short shorts and I
end up always getting a wedgy and walking around fixing my shorts every five
seconds haha!
Light Weight Skirt
You’ll see a few light weight skirts in the upcoming weeks
here on the blog, especially anything that is a summery print or even linen.  I LOVE LOVE LOVE linen like something
fierce.  It just reminds me of summer and
last summer I had this one pair of linen pants that I wore numerous times in
Poland because I like to pack pieces that are versatile and more on the light
side so that my luggage isn’t crazy heavy, which I’m usually right at the 50lbs
mark haha.  I like living life on the edge.
Birkenstocks
These are a great alternative to regular flip flops, even
though I love my simple Old Navy flip flops. 
I know they are on the pricey side and I have 2 pairs, black and
metallic rose gold.  I basically live in
these in the summer.  The reason why I always
recommend these is because they form to your foot.  Basically don’t ever buy used Birks because
it won’t work.  You have to buy them new
so that they can be the perfect fit just for you.  I’ve been wearing Birks since I was little
and they actually help my feet, knees, and back.  I’m not saying this is the same for everyone,
but they help with the no arch issue I have in my foot and since they’re so
comfortable my knees and back don’t hurt as bad when I wear them.  Like I said I don’t know if this will be the
case for you, and I’m not a doctor so I can’t make any claims, but they
definitely help me.
Sandals/Flats
I live in flats when I’m trying to be casual because well,
it’s more comfortable and I’m tall.  I do
like to wear sandals in the summer especially with a small heel or wedge.  That’s why I have a few right now that have
either 1.5-2 inch heel height.  I think
that a tiny wedge, even if it’s a fun gladiator sandal always gives off an
extra “dressed up” vibe.

Sunglasses

Not only do you actually need these to keep the sun out of your eyes but there are so many fun sunglasses out there nowadays!  Whether you want to splurge and buy your designer glasses or if you want to purchase a knock off that looks almost exactly identical just minus the name, they’re all available to you.  I have a sunglasses problem, but I usually purchase the less expensive versions or go shopping at the outlet stores, or even Marshalls.
