Dress/Romper: TJ Maxx (old) // Jacket: MakeMeChic (old) // Shoes: Hunter for Target
I know I’ve worn this dress/romper thing here on the blog a few times, but it was nice this weekend and I wanted to wear it. I’ve been loving the whole girly tomboy look lately so here’s my own version. Last week I posted about my blogiversary and if you follow me on Instagram you would have seen my instastory with a little shoutout to Maureen from Little Miss Casual. She commented on my post and said “Congratulations Monica! I love your no BS approach on life and will not conform attitude. You are an inspiration to the big and small bloggers out there! You are doing a fantastic job. Keep up the awesome work!” When I read this comment, I was truly touched. My whole purpose of being is to inspire and not be a robot. The world doesn’t need anymore robots. If anything the world needs more free thinkers and more people who don’t just follow the crowd. The world needs more people asking “why?” Just because someone with a little more “power” than you says something needs to be done a certain, doesn’t mean it’s right. There are a lot of people who I’ve seen think they are right but when I question them they don’t know what to say. Why does it have to be that way? If someone can’t respond to that, how are you supposed to follow their so called rules?
I’m not saying go on a full rebel spree and do whatever you want. No, I’m saying just to question things. Learn what the bigger picture is. For example, I started a new job last week. This is my second week and of course I don’t know everything I’m supposed to, but I don’t just do what they tell me. I ask them why I’m doing this. What’s the purpose of doing it this way? If I understand the bigger picture I’m able to learn more and hey I may even be able to find a better way of doing something because I’m a fresh pair of eyes. At my last job, I asked why we did things a certain way and when people couldn’t answer me, I would find an easier and more effective way of doing things. When I left after 5+ years, everything was completely different. Everything was more organized too and I had a tight knit team.
The world needs more leaders and less followers. Yes, there might be a little competition, but what is life with no competition? Why can’t there be more than one leader? What happens if we work together as a team? These are the things I always question. That’s why I decided that the year 2018 will be the year I actually speak my mind on my blog. Yea, talking about my outfits is fun and all, and I started this blog as a fashion blog, but there is so much more to me than just cute outfits.

Thank you Monica for the shout out and beautiful words. I am touched and honored. Thank you. 🤗🤗🤗 You are one of a kind and I agree that asking questions is important not only to find purpose but to help us grow. It’s good to go outside our boxes and ask questions and it’s also equally important to embrace our differences because isn’t that why we are here? To teach each other about different things, values and beliefs? I like this maxi dress romper and how you styled it with your leather jacket and booties. Love the blend of feminine and edgy!

This is exactly what I tell my 8-year old daughter – that it’s ok to question authority sometimes, provided you do it respectfully. I love the combination of floaty dress and biker jacket.
