Hey y’all! In today’s post I wanted to keep it super simple. The reason being, is a lot of people are out and about for vacation. The company I work for is currently shutdown but I’m still going into the office because I’m using my vacation time at a later date. In today’s post I wanted to keep it super simple and talk about how I clean my makeup brushes. Now I don’t know if this is correct or not, and I was too lazy to actually buy one of those mats that people use to wash brushes so I did a little at home DIY. Ever since I switched over to using brushes instead of a beauty blender, I wanted to take care of my brushes. I bought a Morphe set, and then I stole 2 Sigma brushes from my mom. Sorry mom! Because I paid more for the Morphe brush set I wanted to take care of this set. It’s really not that expensive for the kit I bought, but compared to just using a beauty blender and brushes I’ve had for years, it’s definitely more.
Anywhoo, let’s get into this super simple tutorial, if you can even call it that haha.
- Wet the bristles with lukewarm water. Now, make sure not to get water past the bristles because you don’t want to loosen up the glue and shorten the life of your brushes.
- Next, you can either use makeup brush soap or I just used baby soap and put a little bit in your hand.
- Gently (and I mean gently) massage the bristles. You won’t to make sure you don’t ruin the shape of the bristles, and that you don’t damage them to the point where you need to buy new brushes.
- Rinse.
- Gently squeeze the excess water with a paper towel.
- Repeat if you need to. I had to repeat a few times because I use my brushes a lot and I took my sweet ass time getting to the point of washing the brushes.
- Once you are satisfied with how clean the brushes are, lay them out on a towel and let them air dry. Make sure you either have backup brushes or you aren’t using them the next day because mine were still a little damp when I woke up the next morning.
xoxo Monica
