Two nights ago my fiancĂ© and I were sitting outside since it was nice.  It was dark, and even though we live in an apartment complex we did see the stars very clearly.  We sat in silence for a few seconds and my fiancĂ© says “what if those aren’t stars and they are just lights, like ceiling lights.  How do we know?”  I of course laughed because every once in a while he says things like this out of the blue, but I took a second to think about it, and I just said, well we don’t know.  Yes, it’s a crazy thought (and we don’t actually believe that, it’s just funny), we’ve seen the pictures and satellite images, but we haven’t actually seen these things in person.  Sure, all of what we’ve been told about the world being round and rotating on its axis makes sense, but what if there was more to it?
That’s when we started talking about even crazier things.  I do believe there is life out there somewhere in the universe.  I don’t mean that there are aliens that abduct us in the night (although, The Fourth Kind was a pretty convincing movie lol), but that there is life.  We can’t be the only ones in the universe.  Then we started talking about the ancient Egyptians and how they built the pyramids.  They were geometrically perfect, and while I would love to believe that mankind was able to build that themselves because that just shows how amazing we are, but what if there was something else to the story?  He even gave an example that with all of the people that he works with no matter how many tools and technology they have, sometimes the things they build aren’t level.  It’s not that easy to build perfection. Then I started talking about how stars are like humans; we are born to die eventually.  As I said this, my fiancé watched a star disappear haha.  I know it was most likely a coincidence, but it was funny.
So why am I telling you about my crazy thoughts that make me and my fiancé look a little weird?
It’s because, we as human beings naturally question things, but only a few will act on those questions.  My fiancé put it in the best way possible.  You both question things and act on those questions, or you comply.  Even though our thoughts may seem crazy, it’s because we don’t believe everything we are told.  The history that we learn here in the USA is wrong.  I know from personal experience.  What we were taught about the Holocaust and WW2 was nowhere near what actually happened.  Then on the other hand, when I posted about visiting Auschwitz, some people commented on my personal Facebook post saying that they didn’t know about how they kept the hair and used it to make blankets, and other textiles. Obviously, the school system really failed some people. I’ve always questioned things.  The problem is, people don’t question things, they just believe what they are told.
I mean look at law enforcement for example.  There are good cops who go by the book and put the bad guys away, but then there are the dirty cops; the ones who work for the bad guys.  How can we fully trust the very people who are supposed to be protecting us 100%?  Now, I know that there are good officers out there, however, I also know there are dirty cops.  There are also officers who are just bored in small towns.  A few months ago, I was driving a mile under the speed limit in a residential area, because I knew that kids would be waiting at the bus stop.  An officer followed me and then I ended up somehow getting pulled over by not just one, but two cops.  I felt like a criminal and had no idea why I was being pulled over.  When the officer came to my window, he asked me why if I knew why I was being pulled over and I told him that I don’t know because I wasn’t speeding or doing anything wrong.  His response was because my car was “too loud.” Now, while I have a custom exhaust on my car, it’s street legal/abides by sound ordinance laws, I’m not cat less (cat meaning catalytic converter for those who don’t know cars), and when I am at lower RPM’s you can barely hear it.  I was let go with a warning, but was this really necessary?  Especially being pulled over by two cops?  There is actual crime going on somewhere, there are people dying from drug overdoses left and right because of the heroin epidemic, there are people actually breaking the law, but you’re going to pull me over just because I drive the car I drive?  How are you protecting people from someone who was driving the speed limit, but because of the car I drive you have to profile me as a specific type of person?
I don’t believe anything that the media tells us.  When some news story comes out, I research it before I come to my own opinion, but I usually have a gut feeling about it before hand.  The media has their own agenda.  The problem is, people believe the media, and believe what they see on Facebook. I mean, it’s on the internet so it must be true right? Insert sarcastic voice.
I know that this post may seem like a rant to some people, or might see me as some crazy conspiracy theorist who sits in the basement all creepily, but I’m writing this so that people realize they need to think for themselves.  Don’t just follow like a sheep because that’s what you’re told. I’m not saying having the craziest and strangest thoughts like I do either though haha. I have a very active imagination. People lie, people cover things up, it doesn’t matter if you’re the neighbor next door who seems a little shady (you know, the stereotypical weirdo), or some top ranking government official.
Moral of the story, I have strange thoughts and urge people to be free thinkers and not as weird as me haha.
**Please note, I received this top as a review, however all opinions are my own.

This post is a great read. I am wary of the ‘facts’ and ‘thruths’ on matters – after all they seem to be ever changing according to the times or the standpoint. My husband challenges rules and authority. As you can imagine we are quite the pair, haha! xx

I’m so happy that as a young person you are able to see through the media and how deceptive and biased they are. I wish most people were more like you and not so gullible and bought into everything the media feeds them. I LOVE your outfit this week. Pink and white is such a great color combo. The necklace goes great with that top.

This is why a lot of people in my generation are looked at differently because a lot of them actually believe what they are told. I feel as though a generation that is always on social media, it’s hard for them to distinguish between the truth and deception.

Monica, this may be one of my favorite posts of yours yet! I have some pretty crazy thoughts myself and I totally get it! How do we really know anything? And why do so many accept it all blindly? I just can’t. I question everything , too. And push the limits and boundaries of every societal expectation. I think you and I could have some pretty fascinating conversations! And the next time I find myself in NJ, I am gonna let you know! We’ll have coffee!
By the way, I also love this outfit! It is so pretty and this shade of pink is lovely on you. I love your necklace and bag, too! Perfection!

Haha, well thank you Shelbee! I’m totally down to meet up for coffee and have fun discussions! Too many people in this world are not free thinkers, so it’s hard to have conversations with a lot of people.

I think it’s always good to question sources and be able to think on our own and for ourselves. That means staying informed and doing research. I think so many people nowdays either listen to different media sources or I’ve had conversations where a person literally will say I don’t care if what I think is proven to be wrong it’s what I think. I don’t really go for that either. I think that ignorance is a huge problem and going along blindly is also.

I totally agree. Unfortunately people nowadays believe everything they see and hear without doing their own research first.

Hi Monica
I agree, we have to think for ourselves and take some things for sensationalism. Love your pink top, such a great color on you and pink and white is one of my favorites.
