Two Piece: Shein // Shoes: Old Navy (similar here)
As most of y’all know, I’ve been testing out this whole crop top thing lately. I’ve been stepping out of my shell, even though I’m not completely comfortable with my body, and I won’t ever be completely comfortable. I’ve been trying to push myself to wear crop tops because I actually love this trend, and have seen it worn so many different ways. When brands have asked me to review some of their items, I have been trying the crop tops. There is a way to wear these and not feel uncomfortable though. I choose to wear higher waisted pants and only show a little bit of midriff. Maybe one day when my abs look like Britney Spears circa I’m a Slave 4 U MTV music awards, I’ll be happy to show it off more haha. I’ve decided to compile a few of my favorite crop top looks here on the blog. I’ve basically remixed some of the same things a few times.
Red Long Sleeve Crop Top
A lot of people have told me that red is my color. I think I would have to agree, because whenever I wear it, I feel amazing. I’ve worn this crop top casually, because I don’t feel it’s formal enough to be worn any other way. I love that is’ off the shoulder and long sleeve because it’s different.
Checkered Crop Top
The first time I saw this crop top, I thought that I had to have it because it reminds me of a race track. The only thing I don’t like is it does roll up because of the fabric, so it gets a little shorter than I’d like sometimes. I do love that it is short sleeve and more like a tshirt, instead of being low cut.
Black strapless Crop Top
This is my most revealing crop top. It’s strapless, and only covers a small part. I don’t wear this out too often because it’s not as tight as I’d like it, so it easily falls down. However, when I do wear it, I usually try to wear it with super high waisted pants because it’s so small and shows so much skin. It actually kind of reminds me of a crop top I had when the You Drive Me Crazy-Britney Spears video came out. It was one of those shirts that looks like it would fit a doll, but it stretches out. I’ve already referenced Britney Spears twice in this post hahahaha.
I hope this inspires some of you to try the crop top trend. I don’t feel 100% comfortable, but I’ve tried it. Are y’all loving the crop top trend, or absolutely hating it? I hated it for a while, because I never had abs, but when I saw people wearing it with high waisted pants/shorts/dresses/skirts, I loved the little bit of midriff that showed.
I received this two piece set (the first pictures) as a review from Shein, and I was confused at how to wear the top at first. It’s probably best worn with chicken cutlets rather than a regular bra lol. You know what I’m talking about ladies, the stick on bra that looks like a piece of chicken. The pants are slightly see through, but when wearing the right undies, you should be fine.

** Please note, I received this striped 2 piece set as a review, however all opinions are my own.
xoxo Monica

I am not a big fan of crop tops but I do love how they look. I know I just need to experiment and try it out in a different way. In some ways I ask myself what’s the difference between a crop top and an OTS because both show skin though in a different part of my body. Nice styling on these and love the striped 2 piece!

Thanks so much girl! I was never a fan of crop tops either, except for when I was young and Britney Spears came out haha. I’ve been trying to step out of my comfort zone with these tops.

I love your body as is Monica though no woman is ever 100% satisfied with her body. I love the Britney Spears reference. And red is indeed your color. I can totally see that red cropped top being worn with a pretty midi or maxi skirt with some heeled sandals, that way you can dress it up a bit. Love the edgy looks above but of course that two piece from SheIn is my favorite and I thought it was a jumpsuit with a nude belt. That means you did a brilliant job styling it!
Thank you for linking up with Thursday Moda last week. A new one will be live on Wed at 8 PM Eastern time so join it again, my friend. =) Meanwhile there is a new poem on my blog, hope you like it. It is a good one. 😉
