Has anyone else been having a hard time coming up with content? I feel like my creativity has been completely out of whack. Sunday was truly the first time I had a little bit of a break. I write for an automotive website, and while my fiance took my car to wash it (he surprised me by washing my car and replacing my stereo, the perks of being with a mechanic with his own auto shop), I sat down and typed up an article. It was the first time that I truly felt productive. I’ve been really discouraged lately with creating content, and it doesn’t help that I’ve had a little bit of issues with Youtube.
If you don’t follow me on Instagram or Twitter, you may not have seen my rant. Last week, I was just scrolling through my Youtube studio (which is basically like your back office for creators) and randomly decided to click on the copyright tab. Oh, and I found out later on that if you don’t have at least 1k subscribers, you don’t have this option. Which in my opinion in bullshit, but keep reading to see why.
I clicked on this tab and noticed that there were two alerts (youtube doesn’t email you, you have to look in this tab on your own). Two different channels had taken my Jodi Arias true crime video, all 56 minutes of it, and uploaded it onto their channels along with using my thumbnail. I issued two copyright strikes for these two channels. It would be one thing if they were critiquing my video or reacting to it, however they took the entire video and uploaded it as their own.
Mysteriously after I issued the two strikes, all of the sudden MY original video was demonetized. Which was odd because it was monetized for almost an entire week. Now, I understand people absolutely hate it when creators complain about demonetization, but I find it odd that after I issued strikes it gets demonetized? All of the sudden, my views started increasing too. I’m also big into conspiracies and over the past few weeks its been hard to not get engulfed in conspiracies, so my brain might not have switched to a normal brain just yet and that’s why I’m thinking it’s odd. If you’re interested in conspiracy theories, and some really effed up ones to watch, email me and I’ll give you a great channel to watch. I don’t want to talk about it on my blog in case it gets flagged somehow haha. I told y’all, my tin foil hat has been on 110%. That meme that says check on your conspiracy theory friends, because they haven’t slept in weeks, is totally true. Anyway…
Then it got worse.
The day I decided to tweet Youtube to help me, I had gotten up to 13 copyright strikes (on several different channels that used the same Jodi Arias video) that I issued. I had asked them if they could tell me why this was continuously happening. At that point multiple videos had been removed. However, I had to keep issuing strikes. It also pissed me off that the stolen videos were showing up first when you searched for the title of my video. I had also mentioned the demonetization issue. While Youtube didn’t even bother to touch base on that, they DID respond which was surprising to me, especially with being a small creator. They basically told me just to keep issuing the strikes, so really, their response was of no help. The only good thing was they did respond, but I mean it was probably just to get me to calm down. They asked for links to the channels, and while I didn’t have access to some of them, I sent them the rest and they gave me some generic answer of they can’t disclose information but just to keep issuing strikes. Which is why I said it’s bullshit that if you don’t have 1k subs you don’t have this option to issue strikes. Basically any channel can steal other smaller creators videos and there’s NOTHING that you can do via youtube.
I had multiple people respond to my tweets too. One creator told me that he has one video in particular that gets stolen at least once a week. While some people might think that’s a big deal because it’s once a week, but it is. Another person on the internet is stealing someone’s hard work. The video of mine that’s being targeted took me DAYS to research, write a script, memorize most of it, film, and edit. A few other people hijacked my tweet and started asking Youtube questions, which is fine, it’s rare to see Youtube respond to a creator, let alone a small creator.
At the time of writing this (4/14/20), I’ve been consistently issuing strikes and I’m now up to 29 copyright strikes issued, my video is still demonetized and has only been increasing in views instead of dwindling out, and Youtube went silent on my Twitter post. I have screenshots of everything that I’ve shared on Twitter and Instagram. Nowadays you have to have screenshots of everything otherwise people will say you’re lying. Also, I haven’t talked about this on my channel, because if I do, Youtube will probably black list me like they have other channels for speaking out against youtube and censorship.
Anywho, now that I’ve ranted, let’s move on to the linkup lol

I find google and YouTube very hard to understand! And I hate that the same as Instagram the smaller accounts are the ones not to get any help with growth. Poor. Have a great week xx

I am so disconnected from YouTube so this is all new to me. So sorry that people are stealing your hard work! That is awful. I hope YouTube gets their act together for smaller accounts. Love this baby doll top!

So sorry about your YouTube issues. That’s terrible. I hate it when people use my photos without permission. Love this outfit on you.

Seriously, Monica, that is some effed up st*t! I am so sorry that you are having to deal with that. But you look stinking adorable in these very cool jeans and that darling pink top! I have been struggling with content creation as well. The struggle there is definitely real! When inspiration comes from life and life is on lock down, it is difficult to feel inspired.

I was thinking how much I like your outfit and need to copy it, then realized I just posted a very similar one recently-haha! I’m so sorry about your YouTube content. It seems like so many of social media providers are capricious. I was amused by your tin foil hat reference. A couple of weeks ago I mentioned to my husband I was feeling full-on tin foil hat wearing and he said he’d never heard the expression! What the what? And, oh yes, I’m struggling with content! Take care!

I am struggling with blog content too and I try to make sure I write down ideas when they strike: right now, not sure what my blog post for Friday will be!

That’s terrible Monica. I am so sorry to hear about your YouTube channel just being a hot mess. I am not familiar with a lot of these social media channels so you’ll have to forgive that I am as novice as gets! I still don’t understand IG and FB – I just don’t even bother. I have a Twitter account and I seriously have not posted anything on there. Ugh. I do hope that it gets better and that everything gets fixed. Regarding blog content, I always struggled with it! Ha! I blog to share but I feel intimidated that I only share so few details but even in real life, I don’t even keep in touch with my friends on the daily as not much really changes so I kinda flop out with blogging too. Anyway, I hope you are staying happy, healthy and well! Happy Wednesday!
